In many ancient cultures, fire was seen as a powerful metaphor for life and the human spirit. in ancient Egypt, candles were placed in tombs as an offering and a way to illuminate the path for the deceased in the afterlife. “The early concept can be traced back to civilizations in the early 4th and 5th centuries. The Macedonians would light candles for up to 40 days after a death. They believed the flame was a way to ward off ghosts and demons that might harm the deceased's soul.” The candles and flames are seen as the continuation of the life of the deceased in spirit, and serves as a reminder that the memory of the loved one will live on. During All Saints' Day everybody leaves the flowers and light candles on the graves – flowers to remember that deceased also used to enjoy the colours of life once and candles as a symbol of love and hope for peace for those who passed away. These candles are in memory of a wonderful, funny and very lively friend of mine who recently passed away. She wanted no ceremony and was as bright a soul as you could be. The day she left, the sky gained a star and the world was less bright. She’d be quite grumpy with me for this, as it would be ‘making a fuss’. B And as her favourite scent was Chanel No.5 I am including that in the options. Please let me know any specific scent you'd like... I have over 200 :)
